GENERATIONS OF PIANO EXPERTISE!

Greg Rollinson Pianos was established in 1848 and is owned by Greg Rollinson, a fifth-generation piano tuner and technician.

The Rollinson family is renowned for technical piano expertise dating back to the early 1800s. The business prides itself on skills passed down through five generations over more than 178 years.

This wealth of knowledge began with Urias Cobley Rollinson in England in 1848. His expertise was passed on to his son, Uri Jim Rollinson, who worked and trained with Bothner-Polliacks in the music industry before passing away in King William's Town, South Africa. Uri, in turn, trained his son, Thomas Edward Rollinson, in the piano trade when it expanded to Johannesburg. Thomas had two sons, James Edward Rollinson and Robert Hugh Rollinson, who both followed in his footsteps to carry on the family heritage. James and Robert worked for Lincoln Bros in the 1930s and 1940s. Robert eventually retired to England, and the piano industry lost one of its finest technicians when James Edward Rollinson passed away in 2011.

James had one son, Gregory Guy Rollinson, who began training in piano restoration at just 13 years old. Today, Greg owns Greg Rollinson Pianos. Alongside his extensive experience, several staff members bring over 30 years of industry experience each.

Services include concert tuning, servicing, repairs, refurbishing, re-spraying, transport, valuations, insurance claims, and sales of new and used pianos, as well as accessories like castors and covers.

Every piano, whether new or used, is thoroughly inspected, tuned, serviced, or restored prior to delivery and can be viewed on our showroom floor. We also offer short-term grand and upright piano hire for weddings, photo shoots, and concerts, alongside flexible monthly hires for aspiring musicians.
